Paul Barasi
Paul Barasi codified the Compact while working at the NCVO, wrote the Local Compact Implementation Workbook, led the roll-out of Local Compacts to every area in England, devised Compact Week and the Compacts Awards, and gave presentations or training at 600 local events. Paul first worked on sector policy at Merton, developing their funding programme from £0.3m to £2.4m in 18 months. Moving on to become Director at Job Concern Mitcham and then Policy Adviser to the Leader of the Inner London Education Authority, Paul then earned a Masters Degree in Public Policy at Bristol. With Alcohol Concern, he worked on their £4m grants programme and drafted the All-Party Parliamentary report on Alcohol and Crime. Paul has been a trustee of and led successful campaigns with many local and national voluntary organisations, including chairing London Voluntary Service Council. He has been press officer for the Socialist Educational Association and editor of their magazine Education Politics. He was twice elected a councillor, and is webmaster for the TridentVote and Wimbledon Chess Club sites. He is @PaulBarasi on Twitter.
